What is Traceability ? 2018-07-23T15:36:38-03:00

How does it work?

Traceability allows real-time monitoring of all transactions of a product or batch, from its origin and throughout the distribution chain (laboratories, distributors, logistics operators, pharmacies, medical centers and patients).

For this purpose, it is assigned an identification, individually and uniquely, to each of the medicinal products commercialized to achieve the monitoring, in order to ensure control of medicines and help eradicate the circulation of those who are illegitimate.

Traceability in the world

According to a WHO estimation, up to 30 percent of all medicines are counterfeit in emerging and developing countries. And in developed countries, counterfeit medicines account for 7-15% of all drugs circulating.
This represents about 35,000 million dollars a year (counterfeit drugs) in fraud and losses for both the states and the companies.
In early 2019, approximately 75% of prescription drugs in the world will be covered by serialization and traceability laws.

Main benefits of traceability.

Reduce or eliminate counterfeit of drugs and medical products.

Facilitates stock control and inventory.

Improves times of delivery and reception.

It allows efficiently control of drugs distribution throughout the commercialization chain.

The patient receives medication with legitimacy, quality, efficiency, guaranteed and proven safety.

It reduces logistics costs by detecting flaws prior to product shipment.
